I was chatting with Tom Watson at the Game Based Learning Conference in March and now he has unexpectedly left the cabinet. Which is a pity because, although this labour government has been abysmal in every way, at least we had a keen gamer with a seat at the top table in the country.Tom was able to say very nice, appeasing words to the game industry. But the actions of his government spoke even louder, which is why Britain is in the process of slipping from third to fifth in the world game development league table.

Tom has featured in the MP expense scandal. And the political Guido Fawkes blog has been very unkind about his leaving, and the comments there have been unkinder still.
